Week of February 20, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This week...

Language- we are reading and choosing reading materials for our biography
               - we are using a graphic organizer to sort our ideas and information
               - we are writing a biography sketch together

      Math- we are learning to represent, compare, and order decimal numbers from 0.01
               - we rounding decimal numbers to the nearest tenth

Religion/Family Life- we are learning about the consequences of different solutions to
                                    common friendship difficulties
                                   - we recognize that some friendship difficulties are normal part of
                                    growing up

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Tuesday February 13th. Students are encouraged to bring in Valentine's cards for their classmates on that day. Please click on the link below to see the class list.

Language- we are learning about prefixes so that we can predict the meaning of unfamiliar
                   words
               - we are revising and editing our Persuasive Writing piece using teacher and peer
                 feedback
               - we will begin our Biography unit

Math- we are learning to add and subtract decimals to hundredths
        - we are learning to represent, compare, and order decimal numbers from 0.01

Religion/Family Life- we are learning about the qualities that make a good friendship
                                   - we are discussing the importance of Lent

Language- we are learning to extend our understanding of texts by connecting ideas to
                 our own knowledge, to other familiar texts, and to the world around us

 We read the book, In Those Shoes, by Maribeths Boelts. We created a Padlet to show how we made connections to ourselves, other texts, and the world.

                 - we are learning to read and represent decimal numbers to hundredths

Religion/Family Life- we are learning about changes in families and how they may
                                   affect our relationships
